Since the days of the Indian Day School film, made at Isleta Pueblo in 1898, to the recent announcement that Adam Sandler's new movie "The Longest Yard" would be filming at our state penitentiary in 2004, New Mexico has been an exciting place to make movies - and be in them. With our dramatic natural backdrops ranging from forests and mountains to rocky plateaus and barren deserts, New Mexico has been able to play host to such diverse films as The Great Divide, The Grapes of Wrath, Oklahoma!, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Easy Rider, The Man Who Fell to Earth, The Muppet Movie, The Black Stallion Returns, Natural Born Killers, and Wishbone: The Dog Days of the West - just to name a few. For a complete list, consult the NM Film Office.
